The Salem Ridge Yaks compete in NCAA Division I hockey as members of the Atlantic Hockey Conference, representing the vibrant college town of Salem Ridge with their signature fast-paced, offensive-minded style that has earned them the nickname "The Thundering Herd on Ice." Known for their relentless forechecking and explosive power play, the Yaks have captured three conference championships since 2015 and maintain heated rivalries with crosstown rival Salem Ridge Tech and conference powerhouse Northern Valley. Their dedicated student section, the "Yak Pack," creates one of the most electric atmospheres in college hockey, regularly selling out the 4,200-seat Glacier Arena. This season features standout sophomore forward Marcus Chen, who leads the nation in goals per game, and senior goaltender Emma Rodriguez, a Patty Kazmaier Award candidate whose stellar play has attracted scouts from professional leagues and national media coverage for marquee weekend series.
